Not a flat, not an apartment at the back
but a home just for us, where mornings start
with chai and kitchen fuss.
Wall full of pictures 
of our adventures so quaint, 
and my bold attempts to draw and paint.
I mop the floor and you do the cooking, 
in the middle we argue 
about the pan that's missing.
but then we figure out like we always do, 
while you do the dishes and I look at you. 
and after a long day, pillows, pajamas 
and a conversation is all we need, 
to each other's daily rants we pay heed.
Before bed, for the AC remote we fight, 
I set it too cold 
and steal your blanket in the night.
On sundays we sleep in 
till someone rings the doorbell, 
wake up late and 
make our eighth attempt at baking well
making the cake just the right brown, 
proud about not burning the house down.
It's these simple, messy moments, so true, 
that we'll always love, 
just me and you.
